Cast & Chracters

Gintoki Sakata (voice)
Gintoki Sakata is the silver-haired protagonist of 'Gintama,' known for his lazy demeanor and insatiable sweet tooth. A former samurai who fought in the Joui War, he now runs the Yorozuya, a freelance odd-jobs business. Despite his often indifferent attitude, Gintoki possesses a strong sense of justice and loyalty to his friends. He is highly skilled in swordsmanship, often wielding a wooden bokuto in combat. His past experiences have left him with a deep-seated trauma, influencing his reluctance to engage in unnecessary violence.

Kagura (voice)
Kagura is a young Amanto girl from the Yato Clan, one of the most powerful and bloodthirsty alien races. Rejecting her violent heritage, she comes to Earth seeking work and becomes a member of the Yorozuya. Despite her petite appearance, Kagura possesses superhuman strength and combat abilities. She carries a bulletproof umbrella that doubles as a weapon. Kagura has a voracious appetite and a straightforward, often blunt personality. She shares a sibling-like relationship with Gintoki and Shinpachi, and her interactions with them provide much of the series' comedic relief.

Shinpachi Shimura (voice)
Shinpachi Shimura is a young samurai apprentice who joins the Yorozuya to learn the ways of the samurai under Gintoki's tutelage. He is characterized by his earnestness, strong moral compass, and his iconic glasses. Shinpachi often serves as the straight man to Gintoki and Kagura's antics, providing a grounding presence within the group. He is also the captain of the 'Otsu Fan Club,' showcasing his deep admiration for the pop idol Otsu.

Kotarou Katsura (voice)
Kotarou Katsura is a former comrade of Gintoki from the Joui War and the leader of the Jouishishi, a faction that opposes the Bakufu and Amanto rule. Known for his intelligence and strategic mind, Katsura is also infamous for his eccentric behavior and disguises, often using the alias 'Zura,' which he vehemently corrects to 'Katsura.' Despite his serious mission, he often finds himself in comedic situations, especially involving his pet, Elizabeth.

Taizou Hasegawa (voice)
Taizou Hasegawa, often referred to as 'Madao' (an acronym for 'totally useless middle-aged man'), is a former government official who lost his job after an incident involving Prince Hata. Following his dismissal, his life spiraled downward, leading to his estrangement from his wife and a series of unsuccessful part-time jobs. Despite his misfortunes, Hasegawa maintains a resilient spirit and often interacts with the Yorozuya, contributing to the series' humor.

Toushirou Hijikata (voice)
Toushirou Hijikata, known as the 'Demon Vice-Chief,' is the strict and disciplined vice-commander of the Shinsengumi. He is renowned for his exceptional swordsmanship and unwavering dedication to his duties. Hijikata has a peculiar obsession with mayonnaise, often consuming it excessively. His serious demeanor often contrasts with the more relaxed members of the Shinsengumi, leading to various comedic interactions.

Sougo Okita (voice)
Sougo Okita is the captain of the first division of the Shinsengumi and is recognized as their best swordsman. Beneath his seemingly laid-back and childish exterior lies a sadistic personality, often displaying a penchant for tormenting his superior, Hijikata Toushirou. Despite his tendencies, Okita is deeply loyal to his comrades and is particularly protective of his sister, Mitsuba. He shares a competitive rivalry with Kagura, leading to numerous humorous confrontations.

Shinsuke Takasugi (voice)
Shinsuke Takasugi is a former comrade of Gintoki and Katsura from the Joui War, now leading the Kiheitai, a radical faction aiming to overthrow the Bakufu through violent means. Consumed by vengeance and a desire to destroy the world that took everything from him, Takasugi is a formidable antagonist. His charismatic leadership and strategic acumen make him a significant threat to both the government and his former friends.

Tsukuyo (voice)
Tsukuyo is the leader of the Hyakka, an all-female group of assassins in Yoshiwara. She is a skilled kunoichi with a strict demeanor, dedicated to protecting Yoshiwara and its inhabitants. Tsukuyo has a scarred face and a past marked by hardship, having been trained by the ruthless assassin Jiraia. Despite her tough exterior, she develops a close bond with Gintoki and the Yorozuya, revealing a more compassionate side.

Kamui (voice)
Kamui is a high-ranking member of the Harusame Space Pirates and the elder brother of Kagura. As a member of the Yato Clan, he possesses immense strength and a thirst for battle, often seeking out powerful opponents to challenge. Kamui's relationship with his family is complex, marked by a desire to surpass his father and a protective, albeit antagonistic, attitude towards Kagura.

Kondou, Isao (voice)
Isao Kondou is the commander of the Shinsengumi, known for his honorable nature and unwavering dedication to his subordinates. Despite his leadership position, Kondou is often the subject of ridicule due to his gorilla-like appearance and his obsessive, unrequited love for Shimura Tae, which manifests in frequent stalking. His good-heartedness and commitment to justice earn him the respect and loyalty of his men.

Otose (voice)
Otose, whose real name is Ayano Terada, is the owner of the Otose Snack House and Gintoki's landlady. She is one of the four 'emperors' of the Kabuki District, holding significant influence. Despite her gruff exterior and constant arguments with Gintoki over unpaid rent, Otose has a kind heart and often supports the Yorozuya in times of need. Her past is marked by tragedy, having lost her husband during the Joui War.

Sadaharu (voice)
Sadaharu is a giant, white, dog-like creature known as an Inugami (Dog God). Originally a shrine guardian, he becomes the pet of the Yorozuya after they save him from being abandoned.
