Olivia Dunham
Olivia Dunham is a Northwestern University-educated FBI Special Agent assigned to the Fringe Division, a multi-agency task force under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. She investigates unexplained phenomena linked to fringe science. Olivia was subjected to experiments with the drug Cortexiphan as a child, granting her unique abilities. She is portrayed by Anna Torv, who also plays her parallel universe counterpart, 'Fauxlivia'.

Peter Bishop
Peter Bishop is the son of scientist Walter Bishop and serves as a civilian consultant for the Fringe Division. With an IQ of 190, Peter is a jack-of-all-trades and a college dropout with a troubled past, including gambling debts. He is revealed to be from a parallel universe, having been brought to the prime universe by Walter after the death of his counterpart. Peter is portrayed by Joshua Jackson.

Astrid Farnsworth
Astrid Farnsworth is an FBI Junior Agent who assists Olivia Dunham and works closely with Walter Bishop in the lab. She possesses skills in cryptanalysis and is proficient in multiple languages, including Latin. Astrid's parallel universe counterpart is an autistic savant serving as a computer and statistics specialist in the Fringe Division. She is portrayed by Jasika Nicole.

Walter Bishop
Dr. Walter Bishop is a former government researcher in fringe science with an IQ of 196. After a lab accident resulting in the death of his assistant, he was institutionalized for 17 years. Walter is the father of Peter Bishop and works as a consultant for the Fringe Division, often conducting experiments to assist in investigations. He is portrayed by John Noble, who also plays his parallel universe counterpart, 'Walternate'.
