Beneath her domestic facade lies a complex past that resurfaces, challenging her efforts to maintain a normal life. Dot is married to Wayne Lyon and is the mother of their daughter, Scotty.

Lorraine Lyon
Lorraine Lyon, known as the 'Queen of Debt,' is the CEO of Redemption Services, the largest debt collection agency in the United States. As Dot's wealthy and opinionated mother-in-law, Lorraine exerts significant influence over her family, often clashing with Dot over her past and present choices.

Wayne Lyon
Wayne Lyon is Dot's loving yet passive husband, who owns a small Kia car dealership. Raised under the critical eye of his mother, Lorraine, Wayne struggles to assert himself, often caught between his wife's mysterious past and his mother's domineering presence.

Gator Tillman
Gator Tillman is the brash and eager son of Sheriff Roy Tillman, serving as his deputy and protégé. Desperate to prove his worth to his father, Gator's impulsive actions often lead to complications in their pursuit of Dot.

North Dakota Deputy Witt Farr
Deputy Witt Farr is a reliable and steadfast North Dakota state trooper who becomes involved in the investigation surrounding Dot. His commitment to duty places him at the center of the unfolding events.

Minnesota Police Deputy Indira Olmstead
Deputy Indira Olmstead is a practical and observant officer from Scandia, Minnesota. Drawn into Dot's case, her keen investigative skills and personal financial struggles add depth to her character as she seeks the truth.

Ole Munch
Ole Munch is a mysterious and relentless drifter with an enigmatic past. Hired by Sheriff Roy Tillman to track down Dot, Munch's age and origins are unknown, and he is described as being carved from stone, relentless as the sea, with the forces of physics seemingly not applying to him.

Scotty Lyon
Scotty Lyon is the nine-year-old daughter of Dot and Wayne Lyon. A tomboy with a strong spirit, Scotty's relationship with her mother becomes central as the family's dynamics are tested by unfolding events.

Danish Graves
Danish Graves serves as Lorraine Lyon's in-house counsel and primary advisor. His loyalty and legal acumen make him a key figure in Lorraine's business and personal dealings.

Roy Tillman
Sheriff Roy Tillman is a corrupt rancher and self-proclaimed constitutional sheriff of Stark County, North Dakota. As Dot's abusive ex-husband from over a decade prior, Roy's pursuit of her is driven by a twisted sense of ownership and justice, positioning him as a formidable antagonist.
